Parents of year 5

Please click here to access a letter from Sutton Borough Council regarding children who will be transferring to Secondary school in September 2019.

Please click here for details of Nonsuch High School for Girl’s open day.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all of the children and staff who contributed towards today’s mufti day. As a school we raised a total of  £305  which will go towards preparations for the Summer Sounds Festival being held on Friday 6th July.

Summer Holiday Club

We are delighted to inform you that our very successful Ocean Club will be offering 2 weeks of our extended day-care provision during the summer holiday. The club will run from Monday 23rd July to Friday 3rd August for current Hamsey Green pupils. A letter containing further information will be sent to parents when we return after the half term break.

Arrival time in playground – Upper School

We request that children do not arrive before 8.15am. A member of staff is on duty in the playground from 8.30am each morning.

Parking

Please can we remind parents/carers to park with consideration and courtesy in the local roads around the school.  Please ensure you are not blocking any of our local resident’s driveways as residents should be free to enter and leave their properties as required.  Local Officers from Surrey Police regularly patrol all of the schools in the Tandridge area and the Police can assist with removing cars that are blocking resident’s driveways.

We hope you all have a most enjoyable half term break and we look forward to welcoming

the children back into school on Monday 4th June.

A message from Miss Elstob

Well done to all of our Year 6 children who demonstrated resilience, pride and perseverance whilst taking their end of KS2 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs). We are very proud of their mature efforts and hard work! I also want to say a huge thank-you to all of the staff members involved this week, in ensuring that the four days of SATs were administered successfully and for continuing to demonstrate high aspirations, expectations and a nurturing approach towards the pupils.

Well done also to our Year 2 pupils who also commenced some of their KS1 SATs this week and best wishes for the rest of the assessment period, which will continue into next week. All adults have been amazing, at ensuring that the children applied their skills and knowledge to the best of their ability.

Special thank-you also goes to you the parents, for ensuring that  Year 2 and Year 6 pupils attended school, ready for their tests and for all of the dedication and revision you have supported your child with at home.

Thank you and well-done to all.

Friday 25th May – Mufti day

Pupils may wear their own clothes on Friday 25th May in exchange for a £1 donation to the PTA for the Summer Sounds Festival.  We kindly ask that children do not wear football kits.

Head Bumps – New Initative

From Monday 21st May if your child bumps their head in school we will be issuing them with a red paper wristband displaying the wording “I HAVE BUMPED MY HEAD TODAY”. This new initiative will replace the head bump stickers which we currently use as we are aware that these often fall off of the children’s clothing, especially when changing for PE.

Hampton Court – Year 5 Parents

The permission slips for the Year 5 trip to Hampton Court must be returned to the school office by Monday 21st May and payment is then required by 1st June.

Waitrose ‘Community Matter Box’

One of our parents has very kindly arranged for Hamsey Green Primary School to have one of the 'Community Matters Boxes' in the Sanderstead branch of Waitrose. This will be available for the entire month of June. Last year we were afforded over £300 through this initiative, so if you shop at Waitrose please do visit the Sanderstead branch and donate your tokens!

Class Photos

The proofs for the class photos were sent out with the children this week. Please be aware that Kittle Photography have printed the wrong return date on the proof document. Please note that the deadline for any orders which you would like to collect from school is Tuesday 5th June.

Message for Year 6 Parents

Please be reminded that the payment and slips for the Year 6 hoodies needs to be in by next Friday 25th May. Please ensure your payment and slips are given to Mrs Johnson (William’s mum) or Mrs Burton (Tyler’s mum) and not the school office!

Information for Year 6 Parents

Letters have gone out to Year 6 parents regarding purchasing ‘Year 6 Leavers’ hoodies. They are reasonably priced at £8.00 and come in a choice of two colours. Please speak directly to Mrs Johnson or Mrs Burton if you have any queries regarding the purchasing or payment of the hoodies.

A big thank-you to them both and the other parents involved, for organising this lovely gesture.

Nut Free School

Hamsey Green is a “nut free school”. We have a number of pupils in school with nut allergies, so please take care not to pack nut products into your child's lunchbox. The school greatly appreciates your help in enabling it to do everything it can to keep our children safe.

Exams at Warlingham

Please could we respectfully ask parents to be mindful of the fact that GCSE and A level exams will be taking place at Warlingham School very shortly and exams will still be taking place after the end of our school day?  Please could you ensure that children are as quiet as possible as they walk past Warlingham school.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Uniform

All items of uniform should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. If you use a pen to label your child’s uniform, please ensure you intermittently check if the name is still clearly visible as it can often fade after several washes!

Croydon High Open Evening

Croydon High have advised us they are holding an open evening on Thursday 17th May.  Please visit their website at www.croydonhigh.gdst.net for more details.

New Website launch

As you are aware our exciting new website is soon to be launched and parents are invited to attend our launch parties which will be taking place on Tuesday 1st May in the Upper School hall at 8.45am and 5.30pm.  We hope to see as many of you there as possible.  It is anticipated that the website will then be live within 48 hours. As with any significant changes to any website there may be periods when the website may be unavailable so please keep trying if this should happen. If there is going to be an extended period of time when it will not be available then you will be contacted by email and text.

Teacher Run Clubs

Letters have gone home with the children this week containing information regarding the 10 teacher run after school activity clubs which are being offered across the two school sites for the summer term.

If a club is oversubscribed and you are not successful in gaining a place we will contact you to let you know and place your child on a waiting list. We will do this by Wednesday 2nd May. If your child has been successful in obtaining a place we will NOT contact you.

Class Photos

The children will be having their class photos taken on Friday 4th May. Please ensure your child has their school jumper/cardigan with them on this day.
