What is Wellbeing Prescription?

It's a free service that can help you improve your health and wellbeing.

Our Wellbeing Advisors will meet with you to discuss your needs.  They are able to provide expert advice and signpost you to local services that can help.  This might include services that help you:

  • Get Active
  • Lose Weight
  • Eat Well
  • Stop Smoking
  • Meet New People
  • Get Out and About
  • Get a Load off Your Chest

You can contact your local GP surgery to book an appointment with a Wellbeing Advisor.

Wellbeing Prescription is provided by NHS East Surrey CCG, Surrey Downs CCG, Tandridge District Council, Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Surrey County Council.

First Steps

First Steps deliver advice and information on common mental health and emotional issues.  First Steps have trained mental health advisors with backgrounds in a variety of professions - and offer a range of self-help resources, educational sessions and signpost people to othe relevant local services.

Community Connections

Community Connections are community, emotional wellbeing support services for adults experiencing mental ill health in Surrey.  They can be accessed by anyone inerested in receiving support for emotional wellbeing.  The services accept self-referra;s. amd referrals from GPs and Mental Health staff.

They offer services including;

  • One to one support (Recovery Star)
  • Support groups (depression, eating disorder, bipolar support)
  • Walking groups
  • Drop in services
  • Art groups
  • Mindfulnes sessions
  • Social events and peer support
  • Confidence building courses
  • Signposting to local agencies

Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)

IAPT provides help and support for people over 18 years who are registered with a GP in Surrey who are experiencing mild to moderate mental ill-health.  This can include stress, low mood, anxiety, panic attacks, depression (including pre and post natal), obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, post traumatic stress and eating difficulties (not severe).

IESO Online Talking Therapy and Perinatal Wellbeing

Ieso Online Talking Therapy is provided on behalf of the NHS.  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is delivered one to one online.  This is a free service in Surrey.  You meet with an accredited psychotherapis in a secure online therapy room, at a scheduled time and location that is convenient to you.  Appointments are either 30 or 60 minutes long and you can attend them from anywhere you can connect to the internet.  All that is required is a PC, tablet or smartphone.

Safe Havens

Safe Havens are safe and friendly places to talk to someone for emotional and mental health support if you (or the person you care for) are experiencing a crisis - enabling you to take control of, and improve, our own mental health.  The havens also give people the opportunity to drop in and meet others who may be in a similar situation - doors are open to anyone.

If you're feeling stressed, anxious, panicky, low or sad, Thinkaction Surrey can help.
